2017 AKRON ROTARY AMBASSADOR OF SERVICE

2017 Akron Rotary Ambassador of Service is Awarded to Bill Manby Jr.

When he was barely out of college, Bill’s life was permanently changed by a last minute request for the special needs children of Barrett School in Akron. “I need you to play Santa Claus,” his father said. After that first experience, his only request was a Santa suit and beard of his own and he hasn’t missed a year since! Now, more than 20 years later, he delights in the smiles of nearly 200 kids between the S.U.P.E.R Learning Center and the Akron Rotary Camp each Christmas season.

Bill is deeply committed to Akron and Northeast Ohio. He has been Rotarian for 21 years, is a past President of the Akron Rotary Club and was Awarded the 2012-13 Presidential Citation from Rotary International, chaired the 2011 Akron Rotary Chili Open Golf Classic, chaired the Akron Rotary Camp Regatta in 2015, is currently a board member for the Akron Rotary Camp, serves on the Advisory Committee for Akron Community Foundation, is on the Corporate Development Committee for Fairlawn Country Club and currently a member of Leadership Akron Class 33.

He is founder and managing partner of Acquire Investments, a company focused on driving investments into local opportunities. He is also CEO of Akron-based financial services provider, Paradigm, and is Senior Vice-President for TriPoint Global Equities, headquartered in New York City.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys helping coach all three of his children (Ashton, 16, Greyson, 13 and Tatum, 10) and spending time with his wife of 20 years, Suzanne. His family’s commitment to others along with an early recognition of the impact of philanthropy is his proudest achievement.
