2019 Ambassador of Service Mike and Jerry VanDevere

The VanDevere brothers, Mike and Jerry, have been supporting Akron Rotary Club since 2013 with the donation of a new Chevrolet to raise funds, to support and help the youth of our community. This is done as a part of our VanDevere Thrive and Drive program. We are very excited about the opportunities that the Akron Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs provides for our communities youth and families.

The VanDevere Thrive and Drive program works with a variety of local programs, groups and schools from large scale fundraising events to smaller youth sports teams and community initiatives.

The VanDevere Family has been serving the Akron community for over 70 years. Starting in 1946, Rudy VanDevere opened the first dealership in time he  grew their business with his son Joe who joined him in 1958. A few decades later Joe’s two sons, Mike and Jerry joined the family business carrying on the traditions and culture created by their father and grandfather.

Mike and his wife Marie have been married for 36 years. They have 8 children, 3 daughters and 5 sons.  Jerry and Stephanie have been married 26 years with 6 children, 4 daughters and 2 sons. Presently, there are 6 of their children active in the business. What a blessing to have 6 forth generation VanDevere’s working in and continuing the growth of our business. VanDevere’s has been and will continue to be family, and a place where you are treated like family.
